Eligibility

Criteria:

Full-time status/minimum 12 credit hours for the duration of the project.
Full-time status the semester before and after summer projects.
6 credit hours during summer, if graduating in August.
A faculty sponsor.

While UROP hopes to fund as many students as possible, there are limitations to the number we can award. Therefore, in our selection process:

First-time applications have funding priority.
Students earning course credit are awarded expense allowances only.
HHMI recipients are awarded stipend funding only.
Students can only receive funding twice in their undergraduate careers (except HHMI).
Students can only receive funding once for a Research Assistantship.
Funding is never guaranteed.

Consult with the UROP Coordinator to maximize funding.

Application Submission Deadlines

Aug 1: Deadline for December graduates

Sept 15: HHMI (Bioscience) deadline

Sept 30: Deadline for Individual and Team Grants starting in Fall or Spring (we start accepting applications July 2)

Sept 30: Deadline for Research Assistantships that begin in Fall (we start accepting applications July 2)

Dec 1: Deadline for Research Assistantships that begin in Spring

Mar 1: Deadline for all summer projects

Submit applications to the UROP office (Norlin Library, S436) from 8-5pm. UROP does not accept late applications. If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications are due the following Monday by 1pm.
